Old World Father Christmas Figures
and
Hand made "Antique" Style Toys

* In the fall of 1991, I decided I wanted a large Santa figure to be an important centerpiece for my growing Santa collection. To my surprise, there were none to be found!! So, I had to create one myself!! After far too much caffeine, (and a husband who snores!) my first Santa was "born". I say that, because I had done much research on proportion, appropriate clothing, appropriate toys, etc., and it was nearly as exhausting ( and nearly as rewarding) as giving birth!!

* Since then, my Santas have evolved, improved, and have shown more creativity. They are all made by me in my workshop, one at a time. I make many of the toys and accessories also. I use recycled furs, leathers, vintage draperies, and other fabrics. As inspiration, I look to antique post cards, children's books, and my own sleepless nights !! My husband helped me design, (and he welds ) a bracket, which I then attach to a sturdy base, so that there is no visible means of support. The base is then covered to compliment the type of Santa - rustic, elegant, etc. The bodies are constructed of wood, padded and clothed to look like "half - size humans". Trim is hand sewn onto garments. They are approximately 36 inches tall, standing, child figures are proportionate to them. Each figure takes from two to three weeks to complete. After I have finished one, I step back and look at it. If it is not believable, I know I have more work to do, before I will consider it done!!

* I make many of the toys, dolls, teddy bears, and other accessories which adorn my Santas. Be sure to view a sampling of my Treasures and Toys page.

* Because of the time involved in making these unique items, a limited number are available at any one time, my stock is constantly changing. Also, if you wish me to use a special fabric, or fur coat, or maybe your own child's cowboy boots, I can incorporate that into your own special creation.

* These LARGE FIGURES make an impressive statement, and would be an outstanding focal point for your hearth, console table, alcove, or Store Window.

* * Thank you for your interest !!*
